Welcome to my blog...

I figure this is easier than a diary, and I've had a couple of inquiries from friends back in the home state of Washington as to what I'm up to - this should be the easiest way to keep everyone up-to-date - especially those of you who can't stand Facebook :).

Well, awhile back I bought some Grow Boxes then ran to Home Depot and bought soil - my mistake for not reading directions first. Soil is too dense and the water won't wick up properly. So today, I finally went to one of the local gardening centers and a wonderful gal named Liz hooked me up with some peat and vermiculite which I will be mixing with my soil tomorrow and planting the various tomatoes, lettuce, celery, herbs, corn and strawberry plants I also purchased. Turns out that you need to plant seeds in OCTOBER in South Florida if you want a decent harvest. I'm going to plant some radish seeds and other fast growing plants, but will have to wait until October to give the Grow Boxes a real test.

Paula is bringing the girls over tonight, and after agility practice in the morning, she’s going to help me get the new fencing up (Monet’s decided she can jump 4’ to go visit the neighbor, up goes the 6’ fence) and I’ll utilize the free (i.e.: slave <grin>) labor of the nieces to plant my garden. I’ll post pictures.
